This meeting was the second part of our monthly general instrumentation meeting, and mostly sets the stage for an upcoming meeting.

There was an extensive internal email exchange (mostly between Bruce and Darren) on hashing out details of various acquisition and guiding options for MODS.

At our next meeting, Darren will present a 2-phase plan which includes a behind-the-slit viewer on an x-y stage as phase 1, and addition of a slit-viewing mode as phase 2.

Optics

There was a brief, closed-notes discussion of progress on revising the optics bid package. More details at the next meeting.

MODS PDR

The date for the MODS Preliminary Design Review for the LBT Project Office and SAC will be on 2001 March 12 in Columbus. Details and assignments will be forthcoming next week.

Mechanical Engineer Position

We are seeking to hire a second Mechanical Engineer to our group, primarily to work on MODS. Job ads have been placed in the Columbus Dispatch, OSU "Green Sheet", the AAS Job Register (to appear Feb 1), and the ASME web site (out now). We have already received two applicants, and hope to get more as the AAS and ASME ads are circulated.
