Attendees: Pat Osmer, Darren DePoy, Tom O'Brien, Bruce Atwood, Mark Derwent, Dan Papallardo, Paul Byard, Jerry Mason, Carrie Lewis, & Rick Pogge
At this meeting we welcome Carrie Lewis, Project Management Consultant from Navigator Managment Partners LLC, who will be working with us from now until about the end of May to help us create a better management structure for our Aluminizing and MODS projects.
MODS Progress Review
The LBT Project office will hold a progress review of MODS in Columbus next Thursday and Friday (April 22 & 23). Mark Wagner, Joar Brynnel, and Joe Kraus (standing in for Tim Axelrod) will be attending both days. A final agenda will be circulated later this week. Rick Pogge needs to receive everyone's power-point presentations by no later that 5pm next Wednesday (April 21) so he can compile the presentation book for our visitors. We will also consolidate all of the presentations on a single laptop.
Structure
Mark Derwent reports news from Indian Creek Fabricators that the MODS1 upper framework has been successfully removed from the welding fixture and allowed to relax. The structure was very stable, even after vibration testing. One shpere coupling is being worked on to get a better fit, otherwise it is ready for sandblasting and painting with gray primer. Indian Creek is also beginning work on the MODS carts, with cut parts in hand and some pieces already out to subcontractors for machinework.
Optics
Tom and Paul report that the last optics drawings have been completed for the bid work packages. So far bids received are very close to our cost/time estimates, no rude surprises, and we have started making up orders.
Bids on the dichroic and coatings have come in and look very good. It is coming in less than we thought for a 55-layer dielectric coating! We should choose a final vendor soon and cut an order.
Mechanical
Tom has put in orders for outside machining for the slit mask system. We are splitting the work between two local shops (Omtek and COW), both of whom have done excellent work for us in the past. He continuing to work on the next revision of the pre-slit AGW stage system, working with Paul to converge on the optics placement for the 2 cameras.
