Mark and Tom will be travelling to Indian Creek on Friday to help them measure out the collimator frame preparatory to welding. All of the fittings are done, and most of the bench welding of parts is completed. Once the measurement is done, the final grand construction of the MODS skeleton can proceed (the cart is the welding fixture). We look forward to seeing the completed structure sometime in mid-September.
Tom is continuing finishing work on the AGW stage system. Of issue now is making sure we match the specs for the microlens arrays on the off-axis wavefront sensor camera. We have received the specs on the 12x12 and 16x16 arrays (both are 2.6mm across) from Jesper Storm at AIP Potsdam. We can reconfigure for either array simply by translating the wavefront sensor camera. Tom is working on the details of the optomechanical system needed to accommodate this. The AGW stage is basically a mobile optical bench, we have to make sure this requirement doesn't cause any problems, so far it looks like it doesn't.
