TSIP Proposal

Darren reported on the successful submission of our 3rd TSIP proposal to acquire funding for the construction of MODS2. Now we wait...

Structure

Mark Derwent visited Indian Creek Fabricators on February 25, and reports the the first MODS upper support frame is now complete except for finishing work (final welds, buffing and painting). This is a big milestone for the MODS project.

Indian Creek will finish the first upper frame in the coming weeks, and it will go into storage at Indian Creek until we are ready to begin integration of the instrument components. We also have to wait on the construction of the handling cart, which uses parts of the welding fixture (in particular the octagonal top ring visible in the pictures above). We have awarded the contract for the construction of the two handling carts to Indian Creek.
