Note: This is the first meeting for Spring Quarter 2004. We've been on break the last 2 weeks. Most of the meeting was devoted to Aluminizing progress.

Structure

Mark Derwent reports that the handling carts have been ordered from Indian Creek Fabricators. They have most of the parts and should begin construction soon, hopefully timed to when the finish work on the first upper frame is complete. This will let them store the first structure on the first cart, and use the welding fixture to begin fabrication work on the second upper frame.

Mechanical

Tom reported that various motors, gear boxes, brakes, etc. for the multislit cassette and collimator drives have been ordered. We have sent out requests for quotes to local machine shops for fabrication of various components of the multislit systems, but have not yet received responses.

Mark has made improvements to the instrument dark slide, including installing brackets for the proximity sensors. He will be re-assembling and testing the system this week.

Optics

We have sent out bids for the red fold mirrors, dichroic substrates, dichroic coatings, and the calibration system lenses. These are the last major optical components for the baseline MODS system.
