Fairly thick cirrus to the west at start of night. a power failure earlier in the day caused some delay in startup. Cloudcover all night. Too cloudy for quality Uband images. changes made to focus parameter of telescope partway though the night. Minor problems with focus not being accurate over whole field. Observed: N6946, UVaLBV/phl293B, N925, OSUudus/UDSNW01, N628, N672, N2403, M82, M81, ndV147, N2903, UVaLBV/DD068, N3344, M81, M82, N2403, N0377 Detailed Notes: UT 00:58 - taking test flat 2sec exptime in B - 1600 counts on test image UT 01:02 - 5 skyflats 20sec exptime Bessel B UT 01:14 - slewing to NGC6946 UT 01:19 - started focusing OB...feeding calculated abberations...changing focus exp time from 1sec to 1.5sec...needs positive z11 of 1000 - looks better, still no 'good pupils' found by program (pupils too large?)...adjusting z4 by 1500, found pupils UT 01:41 - adjusting with new program numbers.. iterating again..and a final time. UT 01:46 - starting OSUMonitor OB of NGC6946, seeing about .8" UT 02:07 - On NGC6946 V imaging, seeing is 1.2" and clouds are thickening UT 02:24 -slewing to UVALBV/PHL293B-g...focusing, 4 iterations, .7" seeing UT 02:42 - started UVALBV/PHL293B-g OB, UT 03:00 - focusing, 2 iterations, started UVALBV/PHL293B-r OB, may want to check image depth due to cloud cover UT 03:19 - move to N925, focused with 2 iterations, started N925 OB, seeing ~1.2" at start, 1.4" at end UT 03:54 - move to OSUudus/UDSNW01 , focusing, large correction in z4, increasing exptime to 2 sec for next iteration, good after 2nd iteration UT 04:03 - start OSUUDSU01 OB for OSUudus/UDSNW01, seeing 1." to 1.5". some images have elongated sources, related to tracking? clouds worse. U band images poor quality. moving on to different program. UT 04:51 - moving to NGC628 from OSUMonitor. focused after many iterations, z4 parameter seemed to be oscillating UT 05:16 - running Uband focusing OB to check focusing offset for that filter. UT 05:31 - NGC628 focusing OB had unusually large offset (over 1hr) so used 10'N offset to take focusing images instead. focus converged after 2 iterations. UT 05:34 - started NGC628 OB, 1." seeing, still clouds overhead UT 06:10 - NGC628 OB is finished. slewing to NGC672. The focusing parameters were changed as a result of the Uband quickphot results. checked new parameters. UT 06:42 - focused NGC672, again the focusingOB had a very large offset, so 10'N was used instead. Focused with 1 iteration. UT 06:45 - started NGC672 OB, seeing ~.8" UT 07:25 - moved to NGC2403, offset 10'N to focus. focused in 2 iterations. UT 07:32 - started NGC2403 OB, seeing ~1.1", OB only had 3V images, no B images. UT 07:42 - moved to M82, did 10'N offset for focusing UT 07:57 - started OB for M82, seeing ~1.1" UT 08:08 - moved to M81, offset 30'N to focus, converged after 3 iterations UT 08:18 - began M81 OB, seeing 1.1" UT 08:34 - moved to NDv1647ori, focused image. UT 08:40 - started OB for NDv1647ori UT 09:03 - during 3rd of 5 dithers stopped NDv1647ori because images became out of focus. refocused image. UT 09:08 - restarting OB for NDv1647ori, seeing 1.1" UT 09:23 - moving to N2903, focusing image at 10'N offset UT 09:31 - began N2903 OB UT 10:13 - moved to UVaLBV/DD068-r, focused image after 2 iterations UT 10:24 - began UVaLBV/DD068-r OB, started with 1." seeing, but some images had 1.5" seeing, refocused at 20'S after OB UT 10:49 - began UVaLBV/DD068-g OB, seeing 1.2-1.1" UT 11:05 - moving to N3344, offset 15'N for focus, 3 iterations UT 11:16 -began N3344 OB, seeing 1.-.6" UT 11:48 -move to M81. some adjustments had to be made to the scope, moved 30'N to focus. UT 12:05 -began M81 OB, seeing ~1." UT 12:17 - moved to M82 and focused UT 12:22 -started M82 OB UT 12:33 -moved to N2403. focused image at 10'N UT 12:38 -began N2403 OB UT 12:49 - move to N3077 and focus image 10'N UT 12:54 -started N3077 OB UT 13:04 - moved to do morning flats, starting with Bessel-V 5sec test exposure which got 3K counts, scaled by 4 to get 20sec exposures. UT 13:11 -ran Bessel-V OB to get flats, starting at 15k counts with 20sec exposure UT 13:18 -ran Bessel-B OB to get flats, 5sec test is 10k counts, using this exptime, ended at 28K counts UT 13:21 -ran U-SDT OB for flats, 1sec test with 2K counts, using 7sec exptime, 26K to 50K counts..then closed telescope. UT 13:40 - started 25bias OB
