LBT OSU/RC Queue Observing: UTC 2008 November 26 Observers: Haojing Yan, Jill Gerke TO: Aaron Ceranski AA: Olga Kuhn Summary: Completely overcast at start of night. some camera errors over first part of night. We were doing darks and bias frames, partially to test the camera. After a couple different changes to the LBC system (noted below), one to the software and one to hardware, the camera errors seemes to no longer occur. Sky cleared somewhat at UT 06:50 but the holes in the clouds never lasted long, ~20min, so we were never able to get to a target and focus before conditions worsened again. At UT 10:55 humidity was about at 90% and rising. Humidity stayed high till end of night, also still mostly clouded over. Observed: None Detailed Notes: UT 20081125 23:57 -completely overcast, began 2dark OB... camera error, no files saved. cycling power on camera. UT 00:58 - began 2dark (also running to test camera) UT 1:30 - camera still working!, doing 25Bias OB -some work done on the camera remotely, now power control page in LBCcontrol should come up without the 10min delay (disabled red channel). UT 02:48 - started 3dark OB and got the following error: 'LBC has restarted after crash and will automatically will try to restore telescope connection or restore previous systems power status' - turned camera back on (it had shut off on its own according to the power control page) and tried to load 3dark OB and got same error. -looks like fix for power control page in LBCcontrol caused another bug, so have to undo fix that disabled the red channel. now will have 10min delay for camera restart again. -hardware change to fix communication error UT 06:08 - still solid overcast. running 3dark OB to test camera. Started to clear off some during second dark exposure...UT 06:40...opening dome. don't use these darks. UT 06:49 - clouds have cleared somewhat. going to try opening. scope is ready, moving to UDSNW07...took a couple focus exposure and saw no stars. must be clouded over this field. trying new target and hoping for less clouds. UT 06:59 - moved to N628, then to an offset of 10'N to focus. took a couple focus images and got one fuzzy spot resembling a star...looking outside:clouds have gotten thick again. humidity 80%. UT 08:25 -some patches of clear, but fast moving thick clouds over majority of sky making observing not possible. humidity rising. UT 10:16 - clouds clearing a bit, opening dome and moving to N4236....focusing. Focus is very off, difficultly focusing, plus, some cloudy focus images not helping. UT 10:57 - closing dome due to humidity, ~90%. UT 12:28 - humidity still high, now ~98%
