LBT OSU/RC Queue Observing: UTC 2009 March 24 Observers: Paul Martini, Ondrej Pejcha TO: Wayne Wack AA: Olga Kuhn Summary: Photometric at sunset. Started with large temperature differential between mirrors and ambient. Poor seeing permitted only observations of the Mainbelt, although some of the images were taken under worse seeing than the limiting value. Lost ~three hours due to seeing >4". Seeing gradually improved, but a chiller failure forced us to close early. Observed: M81, two epochs of Mainbelt 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 degree fields. Detailed Notes: UT 0000 Delay in getting bias frames due to problem with the HBS. UT 0100 Biases UT 0200 Mirror temperatures are about 6 degrees warmer than ambient. Sky flats in BR, VI. Former are good (15-30k counts), later are okay but have a fair number of stars (did 10-15s integrations to get enough counts). UT 0230 Setup on M81/M82. Convergence was poor, image quality likely poor too. UT 0300 Starting M81, seeing about 3.5". Moving on to another program. UT 0330 Moved to Mainbelt program for 0 degree field, seeing still about 3.5". UT 0400 Moved to 5 degree field. Seeing slightly improved to ~3". UT 0430 Data on Mainbelt 10 degree field. Seeing still at 3". UT 0445 Mainbelt 15 degree field. Repeated observations due to an error in the blue rotator. UT 0530 Mainbelt 20 degree field. Seeing got to ~5". UT 0715 Seeing improved to ~3.8". Obtained second epoch of Mainbelt 0 degree field. UT 0745 Seeing steady at 3.5". Obtained second epoch of Mainbelt 5 degree field. OB repeated due to interrupted connection to the red camera. UT 0830 Attempt to obtain second epoch of 10 degree field failed due to technical problems (mirror panic and chiller malfunction). UT 0930 Second epoch of Mainbelt 10 degree field. Seeing between 3" and 2.5". UT 0945 Second epoch of Mainbelt 15 degree field. Seeing between 2.5" and 2". UT 1015 Second epoch of Mainbelt 20 degree field. Seeing slightly above 2". UT 1100 Chiller failure, closed.
