OSU/RC Queue Observing: UTC 2010 Jan 14 =========================================== ========== Observers: ========== Steve Majewski (UVa), Rebecca Stoll (OSU), Rachael Beaton (UVa) I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom. ~~ Thomas Carlyle Observing Assistent: David Gonzalez Huerta Support Astronomer: Dave Thompson Instrumentation: Tim Shih ========== Instrument: ========== LUCIFER ======== Summary: ======== Obserations: ------------ (1) CALIBS: Narrow & BroadBand Imaging Flats (2) OSU_SMBH: hs0218 & pc0955 (2x exptime) Time Lost: ---------- (1) Lost ~ 2 hours for a pointing problem. (2) Closed for Weather 2:20 MST. Lessons Learned: ---------------- (1) Try to avoid observing objects with OBJ_DEC ~ TEL_LAT. (2) Always avoid elevations > 85 degrees -- operational limit of lucifer. =============== Detailed Notes: =============== ** Search for your Program ID as listed in the Summary ** ====== CALIBS ====== UTC 23:31 -- Significant cloud cover to the East, but clearing to the West. Object is hitting limit of lucifer; Moving to spectrophotometric standard; didnt find guide star; ran in track mode, collimation went bad; moved back to hs0218 could not find guide star; Pointing + Collimation errors; Reset poining & collimation. UTC 02:51 -- Going back to hs0218 field (lost 1 hour) * Running Science Script. * Seeing=0.8" < Slit Width=1.0" ; To estimate slit centering, see img#0140. UTC 03:55 -- Lost 15 minutes for another pointing problem. Cannot find guide star for either telluric calibrator or standard. UTC 04:00 -- Terrible Pointing Problem. Unable to observe telluric or flux cal for hs0218. * Problem may originate from OBJ_DEC ~ TEL_LAT causing math errors in the tranformation to ALT/AZ. Appears to be a legitimate bug in the pointing software. UTC 05:35 -- Finally Fixed. Moving to hip47820 as a telluric for both hs0218 and pc0935.
