OSU/RC Queue Observing UTC 2010 Oct. 01 (civil date Sept.30/Oct.01, 2010) =============================================================================== Observer: Jeff Blackburne (OSU), Matthias Dietrich (OSU) Observing Assistant: Steve Allason Support Astronomer : Dave Thompson Instrumentation : Tim Shih =========== Instrument: =========== LBC ========= Summary: ========= non-photometric night with seeing of 1.3 arcsec at the beginning, 1.5 arcsec in the middle and around 0.9 arcsec in the end of the night - AZ Jiang one OB executed but seeing to high - UM asteroids 15deg, 20deg, and 25degfield for 3 epochs dither in OBs were corrupted which we fixed for all six fields - OSU weaklensing one OB script setting for RXJ2348p14 - ND SN09ig lbc Bessel UBVRI-band imaging - UVa Beaton aAndVI first setting observed, quite some trouble with the OB scripts since the shutter of the red camera was set to be closed (?!) - ND SN10X done - OSU Monitor NGC2403, NGC3077 (3rd red frame lost due to camera error) - ND Howk FBQS0751+29 (6 frames in blue and 4 frames in red, i.e. 2 frames lost due to camera error.) At the beginning of the night about 1 hour was lost due to problems with the mirror which could be fixed. About 30 min to 45 min were lost due to problems with the red camera which could be fixed by turning off and on the OB Execution Gui. The shutter of the red camera triggered an error message 'red channel OB execution error' 'camera CCD controller error!' 'camera shutter error' However, we got the impression that about 2 hours can be ascribed to find out and fixing problems in the OB scripts, ranging from cryptic dither values, closed shutters. 1:13 sunset However, problems with the telescope, in particular with the mirror support which goes into a panic state mirror can't be lifted, hard point error 1:45 problem fixed 2:00 trying blue r' and red z' sky flat already too dark and many stars preparing pointing in /home/LBTO/Calib_OBs/RB_VV_PointingOBs/ a list of OBs from bright pointing stars load an OB for an appropriate star to adjust the telescope pointing 2:10 using ptauti in IRAF under LBTtools 2:15 start IDL and run >dofpia image are taking to achieve collimation for the blue and red camera correct blue/red co-pointing >mirroradjust center blue 1040,2921 center red 1080 2912 ========== AZ Jiang ========== 2:40 slewing to the field starting AZJiang1.ob blue red filter g r seeing 1.4 arcs 1.1 arcs AM(z) 1.34 time stamp 024438 024435 025258 025255 1.35 ....... 1.5 1.5 9 frames in blue and 9 frames in red but seeing well above the desired seeing of less than 1.0arcs ============== UM_asteroids ============== 3:36 slewing to the 15degfield executed but point to a wrong field probably caused by a quote 'shadow ghost' OB 3:39 re-loaded OB again and now right location seeing 1.3 to 1.6 arcsec but during the execution the display of RA DEC switch again disconnected to LBT and re-connected 3:49 it turned out that the OBs are all corrupted. The dither offsets are screwed. Possibly the xml file was edited by hand.
