OSU/RC Queue Observing UTC 2010 Dec 11 (civil date Dec 10/11, 2010) =============================================================================== Observers: Paul Martini (OSU), David Atlee (OSU), Chris Howk (ND), Terry Rettig (ND) Observing Assistant: Gino Bechetti Support Astronomer : Olga Kuhn Instrumentation : Doug Officer =========== Instrument: =========== LUCIFER ========= Summary: ========= Overcast at sunset with approximately 85% cloud cover. We started with programs with loose weather requirements, and the clouds cleared by 10 PM. Seeing at the beginning of the night was moderate (approximately 0.7" in J-band). It became poor in the middle of the night (~1.1") before improving again toward morning (0.8"). We lost approximately 30 minutes due to cloud cover and another hour due to a scripting glitch. One of the acquisition scripts instructed the software to move a non-existent mask to turnout in preparation for spectroscopy. This led to an error when trying to move the mask to the turnout and put the instrument control software into a strange state. This took some time to diagnose and correct. Science obs: UM_IC1613: both bands, but only on the target field (no offset) OSU_M33star: completed full requested spectrum ND_diskangle: 4 positions of MWC480 OSU_HeI: Finished SDSS J0853 and J1013 OSU_hippies: First two hours of requested integration Sky flats: J,H,K,BrG & H2 ============= Setup ============= 22:30 AGw problem from last night repaired. 00:12 Sunset 00:20 Open dome 00:46 Begin pointing telescope ============= UM_IC1613 ============= 00:57 Moving telescope to target. 00:59 Beginning J-band integration, but guide star is very faint.
