OSU/RC Queue Observing UTC 2011 Apr 26 (civil date 2011 Apr 25/26) ============================================================================== Observer: David Atlee (OSU), Jennifer Johnson (OSU), Alexandro Bedregal (UMinn) Observing Assistant: David Gonzalez-Huerta Support Astronomer : Marco Pedani Instrumentation : John Morris =========== Instrument: =========== LBC / LUCI ========= Summary: ========= Bad weather for most of the night. Conditions at sunset were photometric, and we opened to obtain twilight flats. We had to close during the initial collimation and focus sequence due to high winds. We were not able to re-open. ============ Opening ============ 0024 Beginning LBC bias frames for LBCB and LBCR cameras 0040 LBC-Red gave an error: Timeout on CCD controller. Suspending bias frames at 45/50 completed. Opening vent doors to equalize dome temperature. 0049 Power-cycling LBC cameras to correct controller error. 0155 Sunset. Patchy clouds near the horizon. Photometric conditions. 0200 Beginning work on twilight flats 0228 Beginning r- & z-band flats. Counts ~13000 0234 Beginning V- & I-band flats. CR ~11000 0237 Beginning B- & R-band flats. CR ~10000 0243 Beginning r- & i-band flats. CR ~8000 0257 Beginning focus sequence 0259 Closing telescope due to high winds 0451 Running bias image sequence to test instrument configuration 0520 Re-opening and beginning collimation/focus sequence 0524 Latch-pin 10-10 error. Unable to open left shutter door. 0535 Closing again. Latch pin failure suggests wind conditions (gusts up to 18 m/s) are torquing the shutter doors. 0633 Changing instruments to LUCIFER. It's better to spend the time now while we're closed. 1100 Giving up for the night.
