OSU/RC Queue Observing UTC 2011 June 2 (civil date 2011 June 1/2) ============================================================================== Observer: Paul Martini (OSU), Joe Antognini (OSU), George Privon (UVa) Observing Assistant: David Gonzalez Support Astronomer : Olga Kuhn Instrumentation : =========== Instrument: =========== LBC ========= Summary: ========= Thick clouds most of the night. Brief hole opened up toward the end and obtained data for NGC6946, but clouds started thickening again during this OB. Too thick afterwards to do another, and twilight had started. Open a total of about 90 minutes out of 6.5, although only an hour or so was fairly clear. ========= Details: ========= 02:00 Conditions very overcast. Swing arm also not functioning at present, so unable to switch to LBC-R. 02:30 Sunset 04:00 Conditions remain quite overcast. Swing arm also remains nonfunctional. Fault seems to be with the electrical system. John Little is attempting to move it with the system for the other arm. Twilight ends 05:00 Swing arm functional again (probably thanks to power cycle). Clouds still thick, but opened the doors to equilibrate temperatures. Starting a bias sequence. 05:30 Very briefly opened, then shut due to winds 07:30 Much clearer, but wind right at limit 09:20 Opened 09:44 Moving to NGC6946, some trouble with convergence (stopped after 5) Mirror temperature 2.5 deg high 09:55 Starting NGC6946, more clouds 10:30 Moving to NGC6503 -- checking wind (maybe false reading due to telescope orientation Twilight begins 10:40 Moving back to NGC6503, runing dofpia 10:48 Clouds substantially thicker, closing up. 12:00 Sunrise
