OSU/RC Queue Observing UTC 2011 Sept 23 (civil date 2011 Sept 22/23) ======================================= Observers: R. Pogge, R. Stoll, S. Chung (OSU), D. Berg (UM) Observing Assistant: David Gonzalez-Huerta Support Astronomer : Dave Thompson Instrumentation : Instrument: LBC Summary: ... 05:01 Start collimating 05:24 OSU_monitor N6946 focus (did not do co-pointing) 05:36 Starting OSU_monitor N6946a OB 06:12 OSU_monitor N925 focus and co-pointing 06:25 Starting OSU_monitor N925 OB. 06:56 Had to restart LBC because it crashed. Reason unknown. Important -- make sure to close and restart ds9 prior to running lbcrangebal. Update -- Rick has given Dave a version of RB_Science modified so that running an IRAF task (such as lbcrangebal) will no longer clobber the existing RB_Science ds9 window. In order to run IRAF tasks, just open a separate ds9 window from within IRAF. 07:04 Co-pointing and collimating on N925 07:09 Starting N925 OB again. 07:22 There was a rotational shift between two sets of images (1.7 deg), though both images before and after the rotation jump appear to have good PSFs. Reason unknown, but Dave says LBC sometimes does this. 07:35 Co-pointing and collimating on UVaAnd6 07:48 Starting UVa_A and6_3 OB 08:24 Collimating on UVaAnd6 (no co-pointing since we are staying in the same field) 08:26 Starting UVa_A and6_2 OB 08:43 Noticed that guide star on the blue channel shows a lot of abberation in the g-filter. However, the final g-band image looks okay (not great). Stars are not completely round but similar to previous images. Continue with OB. Guide star for the next filter in the blue channel looks fine. Note Added: Dave & Rick inspected the technical chip images from during this time, and it appears that the blue guider postage stamp was showing a galaxy in the field. The star images on the tech chip images were nice and round. We do not understand how they pick which guide object to show in the postage stamp view. 09:00 Collimating on UvaAnd6 09:05 Starting UVa_A and6_1 OB 09:48 Co-pointing and collimating Uva_A and22 09:53 Starting Uva_A and22a OB 10:45 Collimating on Uva_A and22a 10:50 Starting Uva_A and22b OB 11:40 Observations completed at twilight.
