OSU/RC Queue Observing UTC 2011 Sept 24 (civil date 2011 Sept 23/24) ======================================= Observers: R. Pogge, R. Stoll, S. Chung (OSU), D. Berg (UM) Observing Assistant: David Gonzalez-Huerta Support Astronomer : Dave Thompson Instrumentation : Instrument: LBC Summary: This is a "technical night". Support astronomer spent first part of the evening pointing at different elevations with the aim of improving the collimation model of LBC. At approximately 07:00 (UT), we started science OBs and will continue science OBs until the new collimation model is ready to be tested. Details: 07:00 -- Co-pointing and collimation on OSU_monitor N6946 OB. Seeing estimate is ~0.6 in red. 07:07 -- Note that N6946 OB has been edited to exclude U-band, and only observe on B and V in the blue channel, for 900 sec per filter (total time = 1800 sec). A little bit of trailing in the first set of images (blue and red). Second set of images are rotated relative to the first set by ~7 deg. The first set was observed with a position angle of 353 deg, while the second set showed position angle of 360 deg. Trailing is gone in the second set of images, stars look round. Last red image -- completely unfocused! The mirror panicked. 08:?? -- Co-pointing and collimation on UVa And22 08:15 -- UVa And22c OB Trailing of stars on images Guide star on red looks very out of focus 09:02 -- Co-pointing and collimation on ND SN09IG 09:15 -- ND SN09IG_1 OB Remainder of night spent testing the new collimation model.
