\OSU/RC Queue Observing UTC 2011 November 22 (civil date 2011 Nov 21/22) =========================================== Observers: K.Z. Stanek, R. Stoll (OSU) Observing Assistant: Steve Allanson Support Astronomer : Dave Thompson (from home) Instrumentation : Tim Shih Instrument: MODS Summary: It is beautiful and clear, but we are closed all night, first due to high humidity, and for the rest of the night due to ice on the dome. Because ice was accumulating until after sunset, the snow-melt system doesn't help us out; they've found that using it at night simply melts the rime and refreezes it into a solid ice sheet. Assuming this weather holds, we will be open tomorrow, and we are raring to take data. Details: Sadly, none. We took as full a set of calibrations as we could yesterday, so there's little point in repeating them. No data tonight. 09:04: Taking 0.8" and 1.0" dual grating mode flats. Rick will probably explain that the 0.6" flats serve this purpose just as well, but we haven't anything better to do tonight. Note: I did not scale the exposure times when changing the slit width, so this first set may saturate. grflats1.cal grflats0_8.cal They do not appear to be saturating, but at 57k counts the chip may be non-linear? I'll run another set with exptimes halved. 10:11 grflats1s.cal grflats0_8s.cal NB: enclosure lights were on during the first set. They were turned off at 10:11 before the second set began.
