OSU/RC Queue Observing UTC 2011 Jan 03 (civil date 2011 Jan 02/03 2012) =========================================== Observers: BShappee & CWillmer Observing Assistant: Support Astronomer : DThompson Instrumentation : Instrument: MODS / LBC Summary: Only had telescope for second half of the night. Got the telescope in Gregorian mode so we ran a couple MODS tagets and then swiched. Projects observed: LBTO_Fe AZ_cl0218/J1208p45 (new observation) OSU_qso OSU_monitor Details: 07:00: acqMODS J0855p19.acq slight issue with modsAlign... We had to logout and back into the computer that was running the script. (We ran it on a different computer while that was happening.) execMODS J0855p19.obs seeing ~1.2 ************** Be warned, it looks like we are having the same problem as yesterday with MODSalign. Did not see until we were already on the next target. Did not take a slit image because the exposure + readout it is a large fraction of the total exposure time. We will not charge this observation becasue nothing was observed. Also, on the next exposure we will look at the delta X and delta Y and compare with a hand measurement. ************* 07:25: acqMODS LBTO_Fe/J0907p17.acq execMODS LBTO_Fe/J0907p17.obs 07:44: acqMODS AZ_cl0218/J1208p45.acq 07:58 execMODS AZ_cl0218/J1208p45.obs seeing 2->1.3 ~08:50 switch over to LBC 09:06: OSU_monitor/N2403d sent to collimate and co-point (while all the over head was done observed as a bonus) seeing red~0.9 blue~1.0 09:29: OSU_qso/OSU_qso_1057-ri.ob seeing ~0.6-0.7 blue up to 0.9 ~10:15 OSU_qso/OSU_qso_1220-ri.ob moon still slightly up, so we will do the ri first. Collimation did not converge after 8 times, so we killed backed out and started the exposure. Seeing still looks exceptable even though we stopped the collimation. seeing red~0.6-0.8 blue~0.7-0.9 ~11:05: OSU_qso/OSU_qso_1220-gz1.ob seeing red~0.6-0.8 blue~0.7-0.9 somehow lost guide star after the 5th exposure... So we stopped the exposure, recollimated nad resent OB. converges would again not be reached for the red, again stopped and backed out. very frustrating..... Still good not find guide start. Need to move on to a OSU_monitor target before the end of the night... 11:58: OSU_monitor/N4258d ############################# seems to be a problem with the red guider... Guider image just looks like salt and pepper noise. Called Dave, he is looking, while he is doing that we will keep exposing to at least get something in the blue... #################### 13:05: Eventually tracked down to very high noise in the red technical chip. Had to restart LBC. During most of this took exposures of N4258, red unusable, blue most likely usuable. 13:07: Started taking more data of N4258 last couple exposures def. useless. Hopefully something in there is useful. flat time: 13:40: r i U_spec R last couple R saturated
