Instrument: LUCI, MODS 

Summary: Attempted to observe ND_sn11fe with LUCI, however had to abandon because seeing was no where near the requested 0.8''.  Switched over to MODS for the rest of the evening.  Completed these OBs: UM_RMHstars_M31, ND_COSLLS_j2253, OSU_RMAGN_0804.  They were all observed during less than optimal conditions with bad seeing.  Telescope was closed for part of the night due to humidity.  ND_WHIMgals could not be observed because acquisition image shows strong streaking from scattered light.  OSU_CHAOS_field3 mask ID in the scripts are different from the mask ID of the loaded mask.  Observed 3 standard stars. 


Weather: Windy during the day.  Clouds along the horizon but pretty clear.  Temperature drop near sunset.  Cold front came in, large temperature drop.  

Starting with LUCI observation (ND_sn11fe), however LUCI is having mechanical problems.  Running LUCI manually.  


ND_sn11fe:
UT 01:25 -- Trying to collimate LUCI.  

UT 01:39 -- Will not be able to get near 0.8 arcsec seeing at high airmass.  Cancel preset, move on to MODS.

ND_COSLLS:
UT 02:13 Acquiring target, ND_COSLLS(j2253) seeing ~1.2.

UT 02:52 wind is picking up, dewpoint also a concern.

Standard Star:
UT 03:08 Moving to standard star (feige110).  rising humidity, light cirrus forming overhead.

UM_RMHstars:
UT 03:49 Moving to UM_RMHstars_M31_004417.10, quickly edited OB due to formatting error. light cirrus overhead. Wind has settled down, but humitity is up. 

UT 04:19 clouds increasing

UT 04:25  Moving to UM_RMHstars_M31_004522.58.  Moderate cirrus overhead. Aborted OB because we need to close due to weather.

UT 04:32 closing due to high humidity. 

UT 05:00  we are sitting in a cloud. starting calibrations. slitless flats (dual, blue, and red) 

UT 06:00  starting longslit wavelength calibrations(dual, blue, and red)

UT 06:38  starting OSU_CHAOS MOS mask calibrations, fields 1 and 2.  The ID number for field 3 did not match the OBs. Have contacted PI to resolve try to this.

UT 07:30 looked like we might open for a bit, but conditions are very unstable. starting ND_WHIMS mask calibration. 

OPENING
UT 08:23  humidity dropped, clouds cleared.  Opening back up!

UM_RMHstars:
UT 08:29  Moving to UM_RMHstars_M31_004522.58 again. Taking some time to collimate due to temperature changes while closed. seeing ~1.3, variable.

UT 08:50 Starting OB, seeing now ~1.7, still variable. adding one extra exposure to compensate for seeing. 

Standard Star:
UT 09:23 Moving to g191b2b and executing OB. seeing ~1.5, wind ok, humidity good.

ND_WHIMgals:
UT 10:07 Moving to ND_WHIMgals

UT 10:18 there is significant scattered light in the acquisition image.  We are taking a full image for diagnostics. seeing now ~1.9, temperature is dropping

UT 10:28 seeing continues to deteriorate, now ~2.2.  investigating scattered light. 

OSU_RMAGN:
UT 11:00 seeing may have settled down, slewing to OSU_RMAGN_PG0804, seeing still variable, jumping up and down from 1.7-2.2.  

UT 11:14 Starting OB.  Seeing ranges from ~1.5 - 2.0

UT 11:48 Seeing getting worse, up to 2.5. 

Standard Star:
UT 11:53 Moving to standard star gd71

UT 12:02 Starting OB.  Seeing ~1.2.  

UT 12:25 Seeing increased to ~1.5-2.
