Observers: Pogge, Villanueva Telescope Operator: Geno Bechetti Support Astronomer: Olga Kuhn Instrument: LUCI Imaging Observing Log for 2013 Mar 19/20 Summary: Overcast most of the day with a few breaks in heavy cirrus. Light wind and cool. Overnight it was heavy overcast with only occasional breaks, nothing big enough or clear enough to point to. We finally gave up at around 1am when it was apparent from satellite images that conditions were not going to improve. Details: All times are UTC unless otherwise noted 00:00 - overcast with a few holes. No rain threat (30% humidity) and light winds. 01:40 - sunset, invisible behind cloud in the west 02:19 - open and equilibrating, but still cloudy. Set mount on bright (5mag) star. 02:30 - hole above us, looking for BS9118 R=12.7 - cannot lock on or guide in the clouds. Trying R=8mag. Failed... 02:50 - managed to acquire R=8mag and collimate, but background is high. 03:00 - cannot see stars, closing but keeping ventilation going for now. 08:30 - Still closed by clouds. The satellite shows more of the same, so we're going to call it a night and a run.
