Observing Log for 2013 October 25/26

Summary:
Clear all night
Beginning of night had excellent seeing (0.5"-0.6"), and gradually degraded to 1.3"-1.4" at the end.
Observed OSU_KELT1 (LUCI), UVa_BCDJ0301 (LUCI), OSU_MAPS0855 (MODS), OSU_BALQ_0835 (MODS), standard star G191b2b (MODS)

Covered minimum window for KELT1 transit, but lost guiding around 06:40  (UT), and aborted the final 15 minutes.  Otherwise smooth, except  unclear finding charts resulted in some inefficiency.

01:34 Alignment #Creating a second version of .acq file (KELT!_v2.acq). We need more exposure time (changed to 12s) in order to make use of the alignment stars that were selected through the MOS acq process.

06:42 GCS died. Some sort of software bug...  No longer guiding, but still tracking.   Will continue taking 1 minute exposures without re-aligning and check each 1 minute exposure to confirm that the spectra are roughly in the same positions within the slits as in previous exposures (when we were still guiding).   Once the spectra have drifted significantly, we will stop the observation.
