LBT OSU/RC Observing Notes Date: 2015 Oct 14 Observers-- Fausnaugh, Adams Summary: Photometric conditions most of the night, seeing between 0.6" and 1.0". Began the night with LBC, switched to MODS after 3 hours. At this point, the queue is pretty balanced. One technical problem---another TCS crash (similar to 10/11/15) while using MODS. Took 1 hour to restart everything. This required us to modify our schedule---we added a ND_COS program for the end of night. This is why the early standard (near midnight) is dual-grating only. The morning standard has both dual grating and blue channel. Completed science targets: OSU_monitor/628,N6926, OSU_ASASSNLBC/ASASSN14fo,ASASSN13lq OSU_M33/LS4 UM_M33d ND_mls ND_ND_COSLLSj0810 2 standards. Note that blue-channel is on morning standard only (g191) Details (All times are UT): --------------------------------------------------------- UT 00:15 Taking LBC biases, running MODS IC10 calibration script (missed from first night). UT 00:55 - getting setup for twilight flats Obtained at least some useable flats for: LBCR: Y, R, I LBCB: U, B, V UT 01:35 - slewing to first target (OSU_monitor/N6503) and focusing/co-pointing UT 02:01 - Obsevingg N6503 (sky brightness is 21.34, seeing ~1.0") UT 02:16 - Observing ASASSN14fo UT 02:23 - focus feild OSU_monitor/N6946 UT 02:32 - Observing N6946 (seeing ~0.6" ) UT 03:10 - Observing N6946rot (seeing ~ 0.6") UT 03:24 - focus field ASASSN14lq UT 03:33 - Observing ASASSN13lq (seeing ~ 0.7" ) UT 03:38 - focus field OSU_monitor/N628 UT 03:45 - Observing N628 (seeing ~ 1.0") UT 04:21 - reconfiguring for MODS UT 04:36 - acquring OSU_M33LS4 UT 04:43 - Observing M33_LS4 (seeing ~ 0.8 GCS GUI) UT 05:50 - acquring standard bd284211 UT 06:05 - TCS issue, same as from previous night (10/11) UT 06:50 - TCS has been recovered, re-collimating UT 06:56 - reconnecting MODS to the telescope UT 07:01 - acquring bd284211 (back in business) UT 07:08 - observing bd284211 UT 07:16 - acquiring ND_mls UT 07:28 - observing ND_mls UT 08:21 - acquiring UM_M33d UT 08:35 - observing UM_M33d (seeing ~ 0.7 GCSGUI) UT 10:48 - acquiring ND_COSLLSj0810 UT 11:01 - observing ND_COSLLSj0810 (seeing 0.8" GCSGUI) UT 11:52 - acquiring g191 (standard) UT 11:59 - observing g191 (dual-grating and blue channel only) UT 12:23 - reconfiguring for LBC (to get a few morning skyflats) UT 12:35 - took test image (biases) to check an error message, but there is low-amplitdue though noticeable structured noise in LBCred (horizontal stripes). UT 12:40 - sent Skyflat preset (need r and i for previous programs). UT 12:50 - structured pattern noise in red persists. UT 13:00 - Closed
