Date: 2016 June 08 UT Observers: P. Garnavich, T. Holland-Ashford, M. Fausnaugh TO: Geno B. SA: Barry R. Summary: LBC with clear skies all night, some haze along horizon (non-photometric conditions). Seeing was variable, averaging near 1.0 arcseconds and oscillating around 0.9--1.3 arcseconds (sometimes fluctuating above this, much better just before morning twilight). Minor technical problem lost ~7 minutes. Completed programs: LBC: OSU_monitor: N3627SN, N4395, N4826, N4236, N4214, N4258, M101, N6946 ND_ksn14gri,Uz, ND_ksn10Uz Also observed OSU_monitor N6503, but technical glitch only gave 5/6 R band exposures. Observed ND_ksn10gri well into twilight. Calibrations: Biases, Skyflats with U-Spec, U-Bessel, BVR, and griz. Details (all times UT, seeing estimated from science images, usually the blue side): ------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:12 -- Opened. Skies clear, light haze, some clouds on horizon. 02:35 -- Skyflat test. counts saturated. 02:53 -- Skyflats look good, running sequence: blue: U-spec B (OSU_monitor) and U-bessel g (ND_ksn) red: R (OSU_monitor)and riz (ND_ksn) 03:21 -- N3627SN focus (will collimate during twilight) 03:41 -- N3627SN observation ~0.9 arcsecond seeing plenty of signal to noise, focus is good, seeing is great 04:01 -- N4826 focus 04:07 -- 18 degree twilight 04:09 -- N4826 observation ~1.3 arcsecond seeing 04:35 -- seeing is degrading, ~1.5 arcseconds 04:47 -- focus field N4395 04:56 -- N4395 observing 05:14 -- ND_ksn15gri focusing 05:18 -- ND_ksn15gri observing ~1.1 arcsecond seeing 05:50 -- ND_ksn14Uz focusing 05:54 -- ND_ksn15Uz observing ~1.0 arcsecond seeing 06:28 -- N4236 focus and copoint 06:41 -- N4236 observing, ~1.0 acrsecond seeing 06:55 -- N4214 focus 07:00 -- While running dofpia, had a few strange errors: 1-- Time-out in dofpia terminal 2-- Something like multiple OBs trying to run in lbccontrol 3-- In one pupil image, some pixels were missing. Barry says this is a known problem, and causes 2 above. 07:04 -- N4214 observing, ~1.0 arcsecond seeing 07:13 -- N4258 focus 07:19 -- N4258 observing, ~1.1 arcsecond seeing 8:00 -- M101 focus 8:08 -- M101 observing, ~1.0 arcsecond seeing 8:35 -- N6503 focus 8:43 -- N6504 observing, ~1.0 arcsecond seeing 8:59 -- Last red side exposure stalled---lost this exposure (2/3 R band) 9:02 -- N6946 focus 9:08 -- N6946 observing, ~0.9 arcsecond seeing 9:44 -- ND_ksn10Uz focus 9:49 -- ND_ksn10Uz observing, ~0.8 arcsecond seeing red side collimation drifted for last 3 exposures (very bad by end) 10:16 --ND_ksn10gri focus 10:27 --ND_ksn10gri observing, ~0.6 arcsecond seeing (!!!, but red side only, blue has a slightly elongated PSF) 10:30 --18 degree twilight 11:00 -- Redoing V band flat. 11:31 -- Closing, biases
