Date: 2016 June 13 UT Observers: P. Garnavich, M. Fausnaugh, J. Zinn TO: Geno B. SA: Barry R. Moon phase: 1st quarter + 1 day Summary: Patchy clouds at sunset that quickly cleared up. Couldn't open left shutter, delayed observations until 2 hours after sunset. Skies were clear all night, moderate seeing near 1.0 arcseconds but highly variable. We also investigated an issue in MODS1 red channel while the shutter was closed (counts are ~0.5 that of MODS2 red channel)--no solutions as of yet. Completed Programs (Binocular MODS): OSU_ASASSN/Brutus7545, UM_Novae/v1974cyg, ND_nher91, ND_nher91_velocity standard (twilight) Details (All times UT): ---------------------------------- Plan is Binocular MODS all night. 1:15 -- Woke up MODS 2:15 -- Opening up. Conditions are mostly clear, clouds along horizon. Left shutter stuck, delaying opening. Also tried to discern cause for the difference in counts between MODS1r and MODS2r, with MODS2r having a factor of two fewer counts compared to MODS2r. This issue does not seem to be present in the sieve images, and neither do the sieve images exhibit evidence of beam blockage. Rick Pogge investigated (via skype) by taking sieve and biases. 4:20 -- Acquiring BRUTUS7545 TDE candidate. 4:44 -- Not all the light was getting in MODS1 finding the bright star. Homing the AGw seems to have fixed the problem. 5:38 -- Observing BRUTUS7545. Seeing 0.9". Bright source appears 2" from center. Taking one 15min of the core and two 10min exposure of the offset source. 6:40 -- Acquiring UM_Novae/v1974cyg. Ambiguity with double star on target (which is not resolved in finder). Centering on left star in mods1r.20160613.0017 (x = 442, y =642 ) and mods2r.20160613.0013 (x = 460, y = 629) 6:57 -- Observing v1974cyg, seeing ~ 1.2 arcseconds 8:05 -- Acquiring BD332642 (standard star) 8:14 -- Observing BD332642, seeing 1.0 arcseconds 8:29 -- Acquiring ND_nher91 8:44 -- Observing ND_nher91, seeing 1.0 arcseconds 10:00-- Seeing is highly variable, raising average to 1.3 arcseconds 10:30-- 18 degree twilight 10:52-- Acquiring nher91_velocity standard 11:08-- 12 degree twilight 11:14-- Observing nher91_velocity standard 11:32-- Closing
