Date: 2016 Oct 27 UT Observers: Jon Brown, Suk Sien Tie TO: Steve A. SA: Barry R. Moon phase: Summary: Weather started off great and gradually deteriorated. By the end of the LUCI/KELT-1 transit the seeing was quite poor. We switched to MODS and tried some programs that could tolerate the suboptimal conditions. Cirrus was moving in towards the end of the night. Completed Programs: OSU_KELT_ECL_16B/KELT1 UVa_BCD_MODS/J0232 OSU_ASASSN/ASASSN13di ND_LLSthick/J0936 Calibrations: LUCI darks & flats MODS G191-b2b Details (All times UT): ---------------------------------- Plan is LUCI followed by MODS. 00:00 -- Handover/software start-up 00:30 -- LUCI Darks 01:10 -- OSU_KELT1 Errors on centering were a little on the high side (~0.2") but visual inspection looked pretty good. Counts on the trace look fine. Seeing is ~0.8". 03:30 -- Some fluctuations in seeing up to ~1.2", SX guide showing showing ~0.1 mag variability on few minute timescales. 04:30 -- Seeing is pretty variable (up to 1.5"), SX guide showing 0.1-0.2 mag variability. 06:30 -- Seeing varying between 1-2", occasionally well over 2". SX guide showing ~0.4 mag variability. 07:30 -- Switch to MODS 07:55 -- Started UVa_BCD_MODS - J0232 Seeing is ~2". Emission lines are fuzzy but visible. Conditions weren't as good as requested, but this was the most viable target. 08:55 -- Acquiring OSU_ASASSN - ASASSN13di 09:10 -- Started science exposure. Seeing over 2". 09:41 -- Running obs script again. 10:15 -- Acquiring standard G191-b2b. 10:19 -- Started obs script. 10:35 -- Acquiring ND_LLSthick - J0936 Cirrus visible on horizon 10:45 -- Started science exposure. Seeing ~1.8", tranparency not great. 11:30 -- Seeing variable around ~2", transparency still not great but the target is bright. 12:30 -- LUCI flats
