OSURC run Second night: January 31, 2017 UT MODS and LBC Observes: Terndrup, Stierwalt, Liss, Weins Telops: Gonzalez Huerta Staff observer: Kuhn Clear at start of night. Not photometric after midnight: almost clear, but a bit of structure towards the horizon in the N and W directions. Late afternoon test exposures of Sieve Mask image number 1 in mods 1b, 1r, 2b, and 2r UT 02:05: Acquiring gl191b2b spectrophotometric standard. Initial setup is taking longer than usual because of a power glitch late in the afternoon. Initial seeing is very good, about 0.5-0.6". UT: 2:35. Starting two sets of spectra of Gl191b2b dual mode: mods1b.20170131.0001 through 0003 mods1r.20170131.0004 through 0006 mods2b.20170131.0002 through 0004 mods2r.20170131.0005 through 0007 red side: mods1r.20170131.0007 through 0009 mods2r.20170131.0008 through 0010 UT 03:10 Acquiring UM_RMH star V12 in NGC 2403. We have made a copy of the acquisition and observing scripts to use a slit of width 0.6", since the seeing is so good. Staring to acquire with the 0.6" slit. UT 03:25 Blind offset worked great. Beginning observations. Wavefront sensor FW = 0.63". These are red side only with a narrow (0.6") slit. mods1r.20170131.0013 through 0017 mods1r.20170131.0013 through 0017 We will get appropriate biases and flats on subsequent days of this run. UT 05:15 Acquiring ND_carbon jy1926. Seeing still very good (0.5 - 0.6"). Back to dual mode for this object. mods1b.20170131.0005 through 0008 mods1r.20170131.0021 through 0023 mods2b.20170131.0005 through 0007 mods2r.20170131.0021 through 0023 UT 06:00 Beginning switchover to LBC. 06:40 Collimation and pointing. 06:41 Start observing UVa_tntgroups program. 11:50 Finish UVa_tntgroups. seeing was about 1" - 1.1" for most of these observations. UT 11:55 Moving to NGC 5194 in the OSU Monitor program 12:09 Starting NGC 5194 science frames. Blue seeing ~ 1", red ~ 0.85" UT 12:53 Positioning for twilight flats (a bit early - but no time for another OB). UT 12:55 Bias frames while we are waiting for the sunrise. UT 13:30 Twilight frames in g(blue) and r(red) for UVA_tntgroups program. First images are test exposures as the sky brightens.
