Date: 2017 Sep 17 Observers: S Johnson, M Johnson TO: David SA: Barry Moon phase: Summary: We were hopeful at the start, but had some intermittent closes from clouds. After the second closure, we remained closed due to humidity being above 90 percent. The humidity pinned at 100 percent for four hours, prompting us to call it an early night. No calibrations were taken for LBC, but we can use the archival ones from last week. Minor technical issues: Completed Programs: - OSU_moniter N6503 Calibrations: LBC: MODS: LUCI Standard star: Details (All times UT): ---------------------------------- Plan: Begin at twilight with the KELT 16 observation, which we will nominally observe till 09:45, taking up most of the night. Post that we will switch to LBC, and stick to that for the remainder of the night. Updated plan: Spotty clouds as sunset approaches, making odds of successful KELT-16 observations low. Planning to run LBC observations instead, working way down priority list. 01:24 - sunset 02:05 - opening the enclosure. Still some clouds nearby so there is the possibility that we might need to close in a hurry. Sticking to OSUmonitor as interruptable program. 02:11 - pointing check 02:23 - collimation and focus done, starting copointing. Not actually in focus, re-focusing. 02:52 - Closing dome due to approaching clouds while focusing/collimation still in progress. 03:09 - Re-opening. 03:38 - Focused and mirrors aligned, beginning first science observation (for OSU_monitor N6503). 04:00 - Finished N6503, moved to N6946. 04:08 - Started N6946 for OSU_moniter 04:09 - Closing due to cloud. 05:21 - Clouds looking better, but humidity now above 90% limit for opening. 07:41 - remained closed due to 100 percent humidity for past two hours 09:05 - still closed due to humidity 10:40 - Calling it early again, humidity pinned at 100 for the past four hours.
