OSURC run, night 3: UT October 25, 2019 Observers: Charlotte Wood, University of Notre Dame du Lac Donald Terndrup, The Ohio State University LBTO Astronomer: Olga Kuhn Telescope operator: Josh Williams Clear at the start of the night. Seeing is very poor, 1.7" - 1.9" at opening and was only better occasionally. We thus began with bright AGN as part of the OSU_Storm program. During periods when the seeing was somewhat less bad, we got a couple of programs from the main list. Completed programs: OSU_Storm: PG 2130, Mrk 335, Mrk 1501, NGC 7469, PG 0026, PG 0052 OSU_dwarfs/NGC628A UVa_UVA_BCD_J0344 OSU_ASASSN/ZTF19abvgxrq Afternoon: calibration images slit flats: 0.6", 0.8", 1.0", 1.2" dual mode Morning: calibration images (more tomorrow) Lamp spectra Mods1 (red) + Mods2 (blue) slit flats: 2.4" dual mode ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ UT_start Object/Notes 01:30 BD+28 4211 dual mode Seeing 1.5 - 1.6" 01:40 BD+28 4211 mods1: red mods2: blue This is the configuration for the OSU_Storm project Seeing 1.5" 02:05 OSU_Storm/PG2130 Seeing 1.5" 02:45 OSU_Storm/Mrk335 Seeing 1.3 - 1.6" (range indicates variability) 03:25 OSU_Storm/Mrk1501 Seeing 1.7 - 2.0" 04:05 OSU_Storm/NGC7469 Seeing 1.3 - 1.5" 04:50 OSU_Storm/PG0026 Seeing 1.5 - 1.8" 05:25 OSU_Storm/PG0052 Seeing 1.8", but improved during the sequence 05:55 Go to OSU_dwarfs NGC628A field. DIMM 1.65" Centered on the target galaxy, assume slit rotation is correct to get the companion dwarf to the southwest. Had to make a few corrections to the acquisition file (slit image name incorrect). Seeing on acquisition images: 1.6" (red), 1.85" (blue) 06:15 Begin sequence. Seeing is improving while we are observing. Object is extremely faint. Targeted object does not have any obvious spectral features. Companion galaxy to the south shows definite emission lines with an approximate redshift of 0.026 (Balmer alpha + beta + [O III] + [O II]). 07:25 Move over to UVA_BCD_J0344. DIMM 1.5". 07:35 Start spectra. Seeing variable, sometimes good, often not. 08:45 Set up on OSU_ASASSN/ZTF19arglebargle. This is a second epoch. Seeing is pretty crappy, but we'll try anyway. We did the observing sequence twice because the seeing was sometimes about 2" and the light through the slit was reduced. 11:30 g191b2b dual mode 11:50 g191b2b mods1: red mods2: blue 12:10 gd71 dual mode, then mods1: red mods2: blue end ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
