Date: 2020 Jun 20 UTC Observers: Wood, Garnavich TO: David Gonzalez SA: Olga Kuhn Moon phase: dark Summary: Hybrid remote observing (Zoom/Anydesk from South Bend), telescope set up for starting with LBC. Smoke from the Bighorn fire near Tucson still a problem. Never able to open as a result, despite an apparent improvement in the particle detector. Only calibrations done were to check for the debris in LBC and not for science. Calibrations: LBC biases with chamber lights (more debris checks) Completed Programs: Details (All times UT): ---------------------------------- 03:00 - Closed at sunset due to wildfire smoke 03:45 - Taking biases with lower chamber lights to check debris again while we wait for smoke to clear 04:15 - Checked smoke conditions. Could see flashlight beam and smell smoke from the mountain, remaining closed. 05:15 - Smoke conditions look improved on the plot, but can't make judgement from that. Summit report the same, remaining closed. 06:35 - Smoke conditions are the same. 07:45 - No change in conditions. Checking approximately every hour. 08:30 - More of the same... 09:10 - Particle monitor showed improvement, but report from the summit still the same. Remaining closed. 10:00 - Still smoky, unable to open. Only half an hour until twilight.
