Date: 2020 Jun 21 UTC Observers: Wood, Garnavich TO: David Gonzalez SA: Olga Kuhn Moon phase: dark Summary: Hybrid remote observing (Zoom/Anydesk from South Bend), telescope set up for starting with MODS. Smoke from the Bighorn fire near Tucson still a problem. We opened just long enough to get a standard star before the smoke returned and closed the dome for the rest of the time. Calibrations: Completed Programs: MODSPhotCal/hz44 Details (All times UT): ---------------------------------- 02:45 - Report from the summit says no smell of smoke but it's clear that it surrounds the mountain. Better conditions compared to yesterday, looks like the smoke may be below the summit. We are opening! 03:30 - Starting with a standard star, HZ44. 03:50 - Smoke has returned, closing telescope. Summit reports smell of smoke has returned and lots of particles present in flashlight beam. 05:00 - Summit still reports smoke smell and particles in flashlight. 06:00 - Summit report still the same, remaining closed. Only one hour until handoff to SOUL/INAF. 06:50 - Still smokey outside, hading over to SOUL/INAF early because we don't have time to complete any observations before the official handoff.
