Date: 2020 Nov 22 UTC Observers: Patrick Vallely, Jack Neustadt, Rick Pogge TO: Steve Allanson SA: Olga Kuhn, Alexander Becker All observers and SAs working remotely from their respective homes. Moon phase: Waxing Crescent (Illumination: 43%) Summary: First half MODS, 2nd half PEPSI (transit observation) Clouds in and out, and seeing variable, 0.8-1.4 arcsec Calibrations: LBC I-band flats Executed Programs: OSU_TYPING/ASASSN20fo OSU_TYPING/ASASSN20jf OSU_TYPING/ASASSN20fu OSU_TYPING/ASASSN20fp MODSPhotCal/gd71 OSU_ASASSN/HD45762 Details (All times UT): ---------------------------------- 00:30 - Going to start with LBC I-band flats and then switch to MODS. 01:30 - Now configuring for MODS. 01:50 - Starting to acquire ASASSN-20fo. 02:00 - Starting science exposure for ASASSN-20fo. Seeing started at 1.4" and steadily improved to ~1". Target is near the moon. Not seeing much cloud extinction. 02:55 - Now getting on target for ASASSN-20jf. 03:10 - Starting science exposure for ASASSN-20jf. Seeing is about 1". Cloud extinction a bit less than half a magnitude. 04:05 - Now on to ASASSN-20fu. 04:15 - Starting science exposures for ASASSN-20fu. Seeing is ~0.8". Looks like maybe a quarter mag of extinction. 05:10 - On to ASASSN-20fp. Setting to 3x450s to accommodate HD45762 timing. Seeing is ~0.9", and doesn't look like much cloud extinction. 05:55 - Now on to standard GD71. Seeing is about 0.8". 06:22 - Now going for HD45762 before PEPSI handover. Looks like we're getting about a magnitude of cloud extinction. 06:32 - Science exposures started. Going to add some extra shots since they add very little time and will keep comparable SNR with prior observations given the cloud extinction. The guide stars are jumping around a bit, which will presumably cause the observations to have effectively larger seeing than the real ~1.4". Ended up getting 9 exp on MODS2 and 7 on MODS1 (lost some time to MODS1R delayed readout). Tentative plan: [X] ASASSN-20fo 01:50 - 02:50 [X] ASASSN-20jf 03:00 - 03:55 [X] ASASSN-20fu 04:05 - 05:00 [X] ASASSN-20fp 05:10 - 05:45 [X] GD71 05:50 - 06:10 [X] HD45762 06:15 - 06:35
